Kate
Kate’s love of belly dance began in the 1980s with classical, oriental dance and its celebration of the feminine. Over time her interest expanded to include transnational and fusion styles, particularly dance forms that blend raqs sharqi with elements of Flamenco and Indian classical dance or incorporate influences from her Eastern European and Balkan heritage.
Wanting to continually challenge herself and extend her understanding, Kate has attended classes and workshops with numerous local and international dancers and teachers.
Keen to share her passion for all forms of belly dance, she has been performing in troupe and solo performances as Karinishka since 2007 and has been teaching since 2011.
Believing everyone can enjoy benefits of belly dancing, both physical and social, she enjoys bringing the joy of belly dancing to people of all ages through her fun, inclusive classes.
